Domagoj Vida was born in Našice, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia on Apr. 29, 1989. When he was young, he started his football playing career inspired by his father Rudika, also a football player. Prior to promote to the senior team in the 2006-07 season aged 17, he started and experienced the youth career in Croatia. In 2010, he reached a contract with the Bayer Leverkusen of Bundesliga. During the first season played with Leverkusen, he participated in eight competitions of UEFA Europa League. After served for the club, he transferred to Dynamo Kyiv of Ukrainian club by a five-year agreement for €6 million. On May 7, 2015, Vida obtained the winning goal in a match against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
In addition, he was a critical and active football player of the Croatia national under-21 team. In 2010, he accomplished his first international appearance in a competition against Wales. In 2013, he won his first Croatian goal for Croatia national football team. Although as a member of the Croatia national football team, he was remain a substitute in the tournament.
